Behold the World's Shortest Bike Lane!

In Cardiff, England, work has finished on a grand project: An eight-foot bike lane.

Sure, at £2,000 (about $3,000), it was sort of expensive. But it’s also awesome! As one cyclist said, “You just have time to get in the saddle before getting off again.”

Sure, it’s fun to make fun of, but the lane serves a vital purpose. A Cardiff town official helpfully explained that the lane is intended to “highlight the interface between the eastbound carriageway and the beginning of a new contraflow facility.”
