Genghis Granny


And so the day came when I asked the clan’s grandmother what, in all the world, could bring her the greatest happiness.

“Perhaps a beautiful day at the park,” I guessed, “with your grandchildren laughing on the playground?”

“Nay,” responded the grandmother. “To crush my enemies, to see them fall at my feet -- to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their men. THAT is the best.”
