"Bestselling" redefined

A friend of mine popped into a bookstore in the Bay Area and spotted some of my work. But he took issue with my author's bio, which describes me as a "bestselling author."

I explained that I have a broad definition of the term: When I receive word that any copy of one of my books has sold, I simply shout out, “I’m the BEST!

In other news, the Audubon Society of Portland is hosting the Wild Arts Festival here in town this weekend. Among its draws are authors like Colin Meloy, Jean Auel, Ursula Le Guin, Jane Kirkpatrick, and, well, me. (I'll be there Sunday, 12-4.)
