So I was at a fundraiser for the Audubon Society yesterday, which is a great chance sign books and meet folks. Funny things always happen at these types of events. For example, one woman trailing two little girls rushed up to my table excitedly. She picked up Cute!, looked at it, set it down. 

"That's a lot of words," she said thoughtfully, and then she rushed off again.

So THAT'S my problem: My books have too many words!

Bonus: We authors are sometimes hard-pressed to describe our own writing. A friend of mine at the event decided to go with "My writing is like a combination of David Sedaris and Mark Twain."

What a coincidence; that's what MY writing is like, too!
