WARNING: THE LINK BELOW LEADS TO AN INTERVIEW WITH ME

This is the link. Look out!

Ooh, and if you're in Portland and if you want to catch a glimpse of a Bart in the wild, I'm at Powell's Books on Hawthorne a couple of days a week. Good luck, but be warned: I'm easily spooked.

When you’re looking for a hobby that matches your healthy lifestyle:

"Mom? Dad? I wanna be a writer."

If anyone ever corrects your grammar, do this:

YOU: Knock, knock.
THEM: Who's there?
YOU: To.
THEM: To who?
YOU: No, it's "to WHOM.” 🧐

‪1. Take a selfie through a toilet paper roll.‬

‪2. Pretend you’re the Moon.‬

‪3. Provide others with glee as they picture you painstakingly taking a selfie through a toilet paper roll.‬

Wait, WHO was America's first president?!

True Story: Our dog just snuck into our neighbor’s book club meeting.

This was particularly dumb since he didn’t even read this month’s book. ‪

(Honestly, he's barely literate.‬)

This is one amazing book dedication.

From The Field Guide to the North American Teenager by Ben Philippe.

Portland’s beautiful in autumn when the leaflets turn.

I’m guessing Amazon reviews require a minimum of 25 words.

And now I want ALL reviews of my books to end with
"I need two more wo.rds." 😀

What's a pirate's favorite letter?

You might think it's R, but it's the C.

(Sorry. Blame Emily.)

In a poll of what numbers are "easiest to remember"...

... the winners were 8, 1, 100, 2, 17, 5, 9, 10, 99, and 11.

Respondents also thought of them as "good" — which is weird, because 17 is a totally garbage number.

One of my favorite middle-grade book report opening lines:

"This was pretty good, for a book."

Bookstore Moments

CUSTOMER: I’m looking for a children’s book called Claudia Shanked the Meatball.

ME: ...

CUSTOMER: ...

ME: Could it be Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs?

CUSTOMER: That’s it!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This will never not make me laugh.

Found this note inside a copy of Beverly Cleary’s BEEZUS AND RAMONA ...

... and now I can’t rest until I know if Miles got his money!

Sorry, it's not a very old Lang sign.

(You know, Auld Lang Syne?)

At the gym:

ME: Look at all these New-Year’s-resolution people working out, lol

EVERYONE ELSE: Why is that bald guy sitting on the rowing machine backwards?
