U.S. Air Force flying saucer?


A declassified 1956 government document identifies this as “USAF Project 1794”. The Air Force contracted work for the construction of a flying saucer designed to have vertical take-off and landing. Ceiling: over 100,000 feet! Check it at the National Archives.
